Football: Servite will receive opening kickoff

It’s a sea of red and black here at Angel Stadium. Servite fans are clad in black, Mater Dei fans in red--fitting since both teams are wearing their home uniforms.

Servite is technically the home team, but there are just as many Mater Dei fans on hand to root for their squad. The entire lower level down the left field line is packed, as is half of the second level. The gridiron extends lengthwise from around the home plate area all the way to the left-center field wall.

The national anthem has been sung, the Lord’s Prayer has been recited and we’re moments away from the start of tonight’s Trinity League showdown. Servite has won the coin toss and will receive the opening kickoff.
