Roosevelt sporting a new look for East L.A. Classic

Roosevelt has taken the field at East Los Angeles College in its new Nike-provided uniforms, and they’re definitely something different. They are black with yellow stripes and numbers, as opposed to the traditional maroon and yellow.

Garfield just ran out of its locker room with a more traditional blue-and-white ensemble.

We’ll see if the new color scheme gives the Rough Riders a boost against their biggest rival. USC wore special black uniforms for a home game against UCLA in men’s basketball a few years back and had a horrid showing.

The stadium is about 80% full, with only end zone seats still empty. It’s definitely a festival-like atmosphere, with both schools unveiling their homecoming courts and a wide range of tantalizing food options. Hopefully, the game can measure up.
