Boys’ basketball: Simi Valley alumni game is Nov. 24

There have been many changes in high school sports, but one thing that has stayed are alumni basketball games, and one of the best is at Simi Valley, where this season’s game will be played on Nov. 24.

The Pioneers will be honoring Danny Alexander from the class of 1992. No word if Alexander is required to make a three-pointer before, during or after the game.

Past honorees have included Don MacLean, Marty Wilson and Bob Hawking.

Activities begin at 5 p.m., followed by an alumni game against the varsity at 7 p.m. Coach Christian Aurand, a Simi Valley grad, has decided to coach rather than play in the game, though his players might have a better chance at winning if Aurand came out of retirement.
