With good weather and good teams, the City Section saw improved attendance figures at its championship football games, which should help its athletics budget.

The City Division II final on Friday at East Los Angeles College attracted an estimated crowd of 3,500, according to assistant commissioner John Aguirre.

The City Division I final Saturday at the Coliseum drew an estimated 6,000, Aguirre said. That’s way above last year’s final of 2,000 during pouring rain.
