Amir Ali Patterson has been named the 2010 athlete of the year at the USATF Southern California Assn. track and field awards banquet after winning age-group national titles in the shot put and discus at the USATF Youth Nationals and Junior Olympics. He’s a freshman at Encino Crespi.
