After opening an 18-point lead in the first quarter, Los Angeles Loyola probably thought it was going to cruise to victory over Encino Crespi. But the Celts fought back, closing to within four points in the fourth quarter before Justin Childress and Parker Cartwright asserted themselves in Loyola’s 66-55 Mission League victory.

Childress finished with 20 points and Cartwright had 12 for Loyola (14-5, 5-2). Kenny Stenhouse had 17 for Crespi (16-6, 4-3).

Loyola played without Joe Stein, who had to serve a mandatory one-game suspension after being ejected against St. Francis on Saturday. Stein could be assessed additional punishment by the school. Crespi was without point guard London Perrantes, who has a fractured fibula.

Mission Hills Alemany defeated West Hills Chaminade, 71-68. First-place North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake (18-2, 7-0) defeated St. Francis, 64-49. Zena Edosomwan had 22 points, 19 rebounds and six assists for Harvard-Westlake.
