Football: Max Tuerk commits to USC

Santa Margarita junior offensive lineman Max Tuerk committed to USC on Wednesday, Coach Harry Welch said. The 6-foot-6, 296-pound Tuerk had more than 30 scholarship offers.

‘He’s a tough kid,’ Welch said.

Tuerk is considered one of the top three linemen in Southern California, along with Jordan Simmons of Encino Crespi and Kyle Murphy of San Clemente. He’s a huge pickup for the Trojans at a position of need.
