Baseball: San Fernando takes 1-0 lead

James An delivered a two-out RBI single in the top of the fourth inning to give San Fernando a 1-0 lead over El Camino Real in a City Section Division I semifinal.
Jose Cardona was charged with an error on a ball hit back to the mound when he threw the ball widly to second on an attempted force play. Then, he threw a wild pitch, putting runners on second and third with one out. Out came Coach Josh Lienhard trying to settle him down.
Cardona struck out Kevin Martinez, but An singled in William Vazquez with a sharp-hit ball to right field.
San Fernando pitcher David Lira is starting to heat up after allowing runners in each of the first three innings. His curveball is getting better, and he has yet to allow a hit in four innings, striking out five.
