Baseball: Chatsworth cruises to 12-1 win over Torrance

Jared Holley contributed three hits and scored two runs to lead Chatsworth (14-2-1) past Torrance, 12-1, in a second-round game of the Babe Herman tournament.
North Torrance defeated Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, 5-3. Dalton Erb hit a three-run home run. Santa Monica defeated El Camino Real, 10-8. Crescenta Valley defeated Redondo, 16-2. Michael Russo hit a grand slam. California defeated Birmingham, 6-4. Robert Ramos hit a two-run home run for Birmingham and Daniel Gomez was three for three.
In the St. Paul tournament, Simi Valley advanced to the semifinals wtih a 10-2 win over Banning. Mykel Davis and Wyatt Hogan had two hits apiece. Dylan Alexander had two RBIs.
In the Valley Mission League, Leo Alcala went four for four with a home run, double and three RBIs in Van Nuys’ 8-7 win over Sylmar. Vladimir Duran threw five innings for the victory. Granada Hills Kennedy (10-6, 4-0) defeated Reseda, 21-0, in five innings. Pablo Gonzalez didn’t allow a hit.
In the Western League, Sage Lewis had four hits and Harrison Simon struck out eight in six innings as Palisades defeated Westchester, 11-1.
In a Chatsworth tournament game, Verdugo Hills (12-9) defeated Granada Hills, 6-4. Gabe Guerra had three hits and Brandon Zavala contributed a three-run double. Joe Goring had three hits for the HIghlanders (14-8).
Ayala defeated Yorba Linda, 1-0, in the Gladstone tournament.
