Football: Northern Division isn’t the same without Marmonte League

Since the Marmonte League was removed from the Northern Division and moved to the Pac-5, the division has become all about the Foothill League.
Hart, Canyon Country Canyon and Valencia have moved into the quarterfinals, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see an all-Foothill League final.
And Hart Coach Mike Herrington is quite pleased that the Marmonte isn’t in the Northern Division, because of their two prominent private schools.
‘I’m happy St. Bonaventure and Oaks Christian aren’t in our division,’ he said. ‘I would welcome the challenge of the Marmonte League without the two teams that have a big advantage over the public schools.’
The Foothill League teams all have productive passing attacks, which will make it difficult for them to be toppled.
Valencia quarterback Sean Murphy passed for 342 yards in a win over Paso Robles. Hart quarterback Brady White passed for 349 yards in a win over Arroyo Grande. Canyon quarterback Cade Apsay passed for 246 yards in a win over San Luis Obispo.
Hart has the toughest quarterfinal, taking on Palos Verdes. Valencia travels to Quartz Hill and Canyon travels to Atasacadero.
