Eighteen Orange Bowl revelers were slightly injured and several others had to dive for cover during the finale of the halftime show when a misfired fireworks rocket slammed into the west stands. All of the injured were treated for superficial burns and released.
“I was sitting in the press box and, suddenly, ‘Zap!’ one of the shells went sideways instead of upward,” said Dan McNamara, executive director of the Orange Bowel committee. “I don’t know why.”
