James Nederlander and Michael Forman will convert the Pix movie theater on Hollywood Boulevard into a playhouse named for Henry Fonda, according to Stan Seiden, president of James M. Nederlander Companies (West).

Seiden said that the Pix would undergo a $1-million restoration project before reopening early next year as the Henry Fonda Theater, under a long-term leasing arrangement with the owners of the 58-year-old structure.

The restoration will include a redesigned marquee, new lobbies, refurbished dressing rooms and restrooms and a new sound system.

Negotiations are under way to select the first production, scheduled for January, 1985, Seiden said.

The 863-seat theater at 6126 Hollywood Blvd. originally opened on Oct. 18, 1926.
