Sears is planning to open 126 stores of the future this year

Sears, Roebuck said the total number of stores of the future includes nine new stores and 117 scheduled for remodeling and remerchandising in 34 states and Puerto Rico. In its store of the future program, the Chicago-based retailer’s strategy is to create a more exciting environment that encourages customers to browse and buy a broader assortment of goods. One of the new stores will be in, Montclair, Calif., and an undisclosed number of the remodeled stores will also be in California.
