George Jaszi, 69, has resigned as head of the Bureau of Economic Analysis in Washington after directing its operations since 1962. He cited health reasons.
Jaszi was one of four economists who, in 1947, created the U.S. economic accounting system, whose main component, the gross national product, is the primary indicator of the nation’s economic health.
