Waste Recovery Facility Slated
The Long Beach Redevelopment Agency will construct the $150-million Southwest Resource recovery Facility on 17-acre Terminal Island site that was sold to the agency by a subsidiary of Union Pacific Corp.
The site, at the southwest corner of Henry Ford Avenue and Dock Street, was sold to the agency for $6.8 million by Upland Industries Corp. Upland will remove oil field facilities on the site.
Waste incinerated in the facility will generate electric power to be sold to Southern California Edison.
