A 23-year-old Tulsa, Okla., resident was arrested on suspicion of murder in the stabbing death of a Santa Ana man outside a Stuart Anderson’s Black Angus restaurant Sunday morning, police said.

Santa Ana police arrested Keith Penn at 9:45 a.m. and booked him into Orange County Jail, where he was being held without bail, police Lt. Bob Jordan said.

The victim, Thomas Arellano, 21, was taken to Western Medical Center following the 1:40 a.m. incident at 1350 N. Tustin Ave., Santa Ana. Arellano was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival at the hospital, Jordan said.

An autopsy was performed Sunday by the Orange County coroner’s office, but details were not released.

Details of the slaying were sketchy, with police saying only that Arellano was stabbed with a sharp object. The parking lot stabbing may have occurred after an argument, Jordan said.

A bookkeeper at the restaurant who did not want to be identified said the corporate office will issue a statement today. She said she did not know the details of the slaying.
