The White House today decided to allow press coverage of Sunday’s private ceremony in which President Reagan and Vice President George Bush will take their oaths of office for a second term.

White House spokesman Larry Speakes said three reporters, three still photographers and a single network television camera will be allowed in for the ceremony, which officials had said earlier might be closed to the media.

Retired Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart will administer the oath to Bush at 8:50 a.m. PST, with the vice president’s wife, Barbara, holding the Bible. Chief Justice Warren E. Burger will administer the oath to reagan at 9 a.m. PST, with First Lady Nancy Reagan holding a Bible once owned by Reagan’s mother.

The Ceremony is being conducted in private because Inauguration Day, Jan 20, falls on Sunday. The swearing in will be re-enacted with all the traditional pomp and fanfare on Monday on the west steps of the Capitol.
