Richard Haynes of West Covina has been selected as president of the Board of Directors of the Visiting Nurses Assn. of the East San Gabriel Valley. Robert Pope of Azusa will serve as vice president and Helen Straight and Betty Woodward of Covina were elected to the board. The Visiting Nurses Assn. provides professional home health care to East San Gabriel Valley residents.

Karen Welts has been elected president of the West Covina Unified School District Board of Trustees. Ray Fleck was named vice president and clerk.

Elena Wong has been named assistant superintendent of instruction for the Garvey School District in Rosemead. Wong previously served as a consultant to the state Department of Education.

Chris Hidalgo, president of the Associated Students of Citrus College, has been appointed to the state Commission on Student Representation.

Kenneth C. Kim has been elected president of the Board of Education of the Hacienda La Puente Unified School District. Jo Arneson was elected vice president and Bill Torres was elected clerk.
