Pintor Comes Back Again--as a Featherweight
Former bantamweight champion Lupe Pintor will start another comeback at the Olympic Auditorium tonight, this time as a featherweight.
Pintor, of Mexico, held the World Boxing Council’s 118-pound title for four years before vacating it because of a weight problem in 1983. He will try the 126-pound division for the first time tonight, meeting Adrian Arreola of Los Angeles. In recent years, Pintor has been an on-again, off-again contender. He fought twice at the Olympic as a super-bantamweight but promised to return to the bantamweight division. Then last year, scheduled to fight again at 118 pounds, he backed out at the last minute and announced his retirement. Pintor claims a record of 50-6, Arreola, 25-5. Arreola, however, has lost only twice in the last two years. Also on the card tonight is a 10-round fight between super-featherweights Mario Martinez and Martin Morado.
