Roger Mears Seeks Third Straight Win in Off-Road Series
Roger Mears will be seeking his third straight victory tonight on the seven-turn course inside the Los Angeles Fairgrounds at Mickey Thompson’s Off-Road Championship Gran Prix in Pomona.
Mears, who will drive a Nissan truck, won the final two races in the short-course series last year. He will have a new truck to take against defending series champion Ivan Stewart, Glenn Harris and Pancho Weaver in the mini-pickup class.
The series will also feature competition in unlimited single-seaters, Volkswagen Super 1600 class, Odyssey and ATVs and a new UltraStock class. The course has been redesigned to include a portion of the half-mile horse racing track.
Gates will open at 5 p.m. for an autograph session in the pit area. The first heat is scheduled for 7.
