Murray Ward, 83; Longtime Executive With E. F. Hutton

Murray Ward, most recently a senior consultant for E. F. Hutton and once the senior vice president in charge of its Southern California offices, died Thursday at St. John’s Hospital, Santa Monica, after a lengthy illness. He was 83.

Ward joined Hutton as a general partner in 1953 after serving as president of Hill, Richards, stock brokers. In 1962, when Hutton dissolved its limited partnership, he was made a senior vice president, giving up that post in 1965.

Ward and his wife, Virginia Ducommun Ward, were active in Southland social circles. He was affiliated with the California Club, Los Angeles Yacht Club, Transpacific Yacht Club, Santa Barbara’s Birnam Wood Golf Club, the Los Angeles Country Club, the Wine and Food Society and the Los Angeles Club.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Anthony.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at All Saints Episcopal Church, Beverly Hills. Cremation will follow.
