The Los Angeles Police Protective League lost a court bid to prevent the Police Department from releasing medical, disciplinary and other personnel records of officers without their permission. Superior Court Judge John L. Cole said such an order would be “silly” and unnecessary, because the department already follows procedures that protect the confidentiality of such records.
