San Diego Roundup : Globetrotters Play in Sports Arena Tonight

The Harlem Globetrotters will make their annual local appearance at 8 tonight in the Sports Arena.

The Globetrotters are led by the Clown Prince of Basketball, Hubert (Geese) Ausbie. Other starters are Lou Dunbar, Billy Ray Hobley, Larry Rivers and Clyde Austin.

Tickets are $9.50, $8 and $5. There is a $2.50 discount for senior citizens and children under 12.

Earnest Jackson and Ed White of the Chargers and Steve Zungul of the Sockers are the San Diego Hall of Champions’ December Stars of the Month. Figure skater Erik Larson of Julian is the amateur Star of the Month.

They will be honored, along with all of 1984’s Stars of the Month, at the 39th Salute to the Champions Dinner on Feb. 19 in the Town and Country Convention Center.

Yachtsman Malin Burnham, track star Arnie Robinson and old-time baseball star Gavy Cravath will be inducted into the Breitbard Hall of Fame at the dinner. Tickets are available by calling the San Diego Hall of Champions.

KFMB radio will broadcast replays of the final three games of the 1984 Padres-Chicago Cubs National League Championship Series this weekend. Game 3 replay will be broadcast at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Game 4 at 12:45 p.m. Saturday and Game 5 at 12:45 p.m. Sunday.
