NEW YORK —
A new non-acrylic tennis court surface will be used for the first time in tournament play at next month’s Lipton International Players Championships at Delray Beach, Fla.
The Laykold surface, said to be comfortable to play on and easy on an athlete’s legs, plays similar to hard court, a spokesman said.
The tennis circuit’s top men and women players are expected to compete in the tournament, scheduled for Feb. 5-17 at Laver’s International Tennis Resort.
