“A Reason to Live” was a good reason to watch TV. Many of the film’s scenes were very realistic. Ricky Schroder gets my vote for the best young actor on TV.

I was appalled to learn that ABC has canceled “Paper Dolls.” This show let us dream and fantasize about modeling and glamour. Maybe it was not as informative as “The Love Boat,” but I enjoyed it.

If I still had children at home, I would forbid them to watch “The Cosby Show.” I’ve been a fan of Cosby’s since the ‘60s; my complaint lies with the show’s spoiled, know-it-all kids. The program is supposed to be highly rated, but I’ve always thought those so-called polls were phony, and now I’m sure of it.

Thanks to NBC for “The Cosby Show,” “Family Ties” and “Cheers.” All three shows are amusing. They make Thursday TV’s best night of the week.

In his diatribe on “A Christmas Carol” (Viewers’ Views, Jan. 6), J. H. Ross refers to “an American turkey.” The film was shot entirely on location in England with an English director (Clive Donner), an English crew, an English cast (with the exception of George C. Scott) and was edited at Pinewood Studios in England.

Well, another Christmas season has passed, and “The Little Drummer Boy” was not rerun on TV. Is our society so against religion that it would rather children learn about Santa, Rudolph, Frosty and the Grinch instead of the real reason we celebrate Christmas?

Anyone and everyone I talk to watches “The People’s Court” following “Wheel of Fortune” on Channel 13. Now no one can see it at the ridiculous hour of 11 p.m. Who makes these silly changes?

I’m sure there are many viewers who would agree with me that bringing “The Rockford Files” back was a smart move on the part of Channel 13. After all, wasn’t it the prototype for the current (and nowhere nearly as successful) private-eye shows? So why schedule it so late at night when most people can’t appreciate the value of a truly great show? And why after “The People’s Court” at 11:30 p.m.? Please rethink your programming, KCOP.

I would like to offer a rebuttal, and possible reason why “Call to Glory” has failed in the ratings. As a viewer recently stated, the production is “incredibly well done,” but the lead in my estimation lacks the qualities of actors such as Robert Lansing in “12 O’Clock High” or Robert Conrad in “Baa Baa Black Sheep.” I became bored with his weak attempts at leadership and never lost sight of the fact that he was script-reading too.

It’s too bad that KTTV ruined the great, late-night movie “Berlin Tunnel 21” with so many commercials. I began to wonder whether the film’s star was Richard Thomas or Cal Worthington.
