The University of Pittsburgh will resume its football series with Notre Dame in 1986 and also will begin playing North Carolina State in a four-year series beginning this fall.

The Panthers have released their tentative football schedules for the 1985 through 1988 seasons, with seven teams--Penn State, North Carolina State, West Virginia, Rutgers, Navy, Syracuse and Temple--appearing on all four schedules.

The Panthers, who slumped to a 3-7-1 record last season after nine consecutive trips to bowl games, will play six home games in each of the four seasons.
