Irate Rock Fans Go on Rampage

Irate rock fans waiting in line for tickets to a concert by the heavy metal rock group Iron Maiden went on a rock-and-bottle-throwing rampage at dawn today, breaking seven plate glass windows at the Long Beach Arena. Police said no one was injured or arrested in the incident, which lasted for several minutes.

More than 20 Long Beach police officers were called to disperse the crowd of more than 500, which had begun gathering at midnight for the box office’s 8 a.m. opening. The melee apparently erupted when some of those waiting panicked in the belief there would not be enough tickets for everyone, police said. As a result, the opening of the ticket booths was postponed until later today.
