Southern California Rapid Transit District Director Mike Lewis has resigned after nearly nine years as a board member of the nation’s third largest public transportation agency. Lewis, the chief deputy for Los Angeles County Supervisor Pete Schabarum and his appointee on the board, said he is leaving the RTD post “to spend more time with my family and pursue other challenges.” Schabarum named former county Registrar-Recorder Leonard Panish to succeed Lewis, who will step down after the Board of Supervisors confirms Panish’s appointment.
