Rare Python Eggs Being Hatched at Knoxville Zoo

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. —
Zoo officials said Thursday that they are monitoring the hatching of Papuan python eggs in what is believed to be the first successful captive breeding of the rare snake.
Bern Tryon, curator of herpetology, said that five of 16 eggs began hatching at the zoo Wednesday after 85 days of incubation.
