Luxury Hotel Scheduled for Palm Springs : $38-million Maxim’s Is Rising for November Opening

Construction is well under way on the $38-million Maxim’s Suite Hotel in Palm Springs, scheduled to open in November.

It is anounced as the first in a chain of luxury hotels to be developed and operated in the United States by Pratt Hotels under an exclusive licensing agreement with Pierre Cardin. Pratt Hotels owns and operates 30 hotels and resorts in the United States, Mexico and the Caribbean and plans to construct five more Maxim’s in the next four years.

The hotel will have 184 regular suites and 10 special VIP suites. Three structures radiate from a six-story, 13,000-square-foot palm court atrium and there will be a formal dining room, two lounges, a sidewalk cafe, a theme restaurant, a swimming pool, a health salon and conference facilities to accommodate up to 600.

The architect is Harwood K. Smith & Partners, Dallas, and the general contractor is McDevitt & Street, Charleston, N. C. Richard Pedroza Associates Inc., Los Angeles, is in charge of hotel planning and interior design.

The national sales office for Maxim’s Hotels is in Century City at 1901 Avenue of the Stars.
