The City Council will conduct a public hearing on legislation that would allow the domestic partners of city employees to have the same rights and coverage as married partners of employees.
The legislation, sponsored by Mayor Valerie Terrigno and tentatively approved by the council, would also provide for the registration of domestic relations between people who live together. The registration of domestic partners would not provide the same legal rights accorded to married couples.
The hearing will start at 7 p.m. today at West Hollywood Park auditorium, 647 N. San Vicente Blvd.
