An executive with a group seeking to buy the Los Angeles Express said he hopes to hear something in the next few days about acquiring the Express or another United States Football League franchise to play in Hawaii in 1986.

Said Tim Leedom, president of Nationwide Professional Search, Inc. of Mission Viejo: “I’m very optimistic. I think the timing is right. We’ve been in touch with the league office. We hope to hear something in the next few days.

The Express currently has no owner and is being operated by the league office.

The British government said it would back any attempt to bring the Olympic Games to Britain in 1992. The British Olympic Committee said it would conduct a feasibility study to see if staging the ’92 Olympics is a viable proposition.

The California Horse Racing Board has given Golden Gate Fields permission to transmit its races into Nevada for betting purposes. Approved were the track’s plans to telecast its races to Reno, Las Vegas and Laughlin.
