French Trade Deficit Widens in January

France’s foreign trade deficit widened in January to a seasonally adjusted 3.8 billion francs, or $372.5 million, from 661 million francs in December, the Industry Ministry said.

January’s result marked a sharp downturn from the second half of 1984, when the trade account fluctuated near balance.
