More than half of all adults in California plan to buy lottery tickets when the state-run game begins, according to a recent California poll. Two of three adults now approve of the lottery, according to the findings by pollster Mervin Field. If those who have indicated they will play actually do, gross sales of lottery tickets could surpass the estimate of $1 billion made by state officials, the survey showed.
