Hedgecock Retrial Set May 8
A Superior Court judge today ordered Mayor Roger Hedgecock to appear May 8 for his second trial on conspiracy and perjury charges related to an alleged scheme to illegally finance his 1983 bid for office.
Judge James Malkus ignored pleas from defense attorney Michael Pancer for a delay in setting the trial date or a delay in the trial itself. Pancer represented Hedgecock in his first trial, which ended Feb. 13 with a hung jury. Pancer said there was “no possible way I can be ready for trial” by May 8. The judge replied, “I don’t care.”
