Mrs. Carter’s Portrait Hung at White House
United Press International
WASHINGTON —
A portrait of a solemn-looking Rosalynn Carter has been hung without ceremony on the ground floor of the White House amid the paintings of other former First Ladies.
The portrait by artist George Augusta, installed Monday, shows Mrs. Carter wearing a pale lavender dress with three-quarter-length sleeves. She is unsmiling and seated, with her body turned slightly to the right and her hands on her lap. The canvas measures 36 by 30 inches.
