Paul Azinger converted a solid putting effort into a bogey-free, six-under-par 65 Friday and a one-stroke lead after the second round of the Bay Hill tournament.

It marked the first time Azinger has ever led a PGA tournament. This is his third season on the tour.

“As good a putting round as I’ve had in a long time,” Azinger, 25, said after completing the best round of the tournament. “I one-putted the first four holes and that just kind of freed up the rest of my game.”

Azinger is at 137.

Bill Kratzert, who had a birdie-eagle-birdie-birdie burst on his way to a 66 in the hot weather, was at 138. Corey Pavin was another stroke back after a 67 in the second round.
