Anti-abortionists picketing a Lawndale medical clinic have been ordered to limit their numbers and to refrain from using bullhorns or touching or interfering with pedestrians. But Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Irving A. Shimer refused to “edit” their verbal slogans or literature. The injunction was issued in a suit filed by a physician who operates the West Coast Medical Group facilities in Lawndale and Encino. He sued the anti-abortion groups in January seeking $3 million in damages and a court order barring them from picketing his clinics. Shimer ruled that until the matter comes to trial, the number of pickets may not exceed five or one every 20 feet in front of the clinic. The order did not apply to the Encino facility.
