“Dynasty” fans, take note: The character of Fallon Carrington will be returning to the ABC series later this season. She was thought to have died in a plane crash, but anything can happen on a soap opera. However, the character will not be played by Pamela Sue Martin, who left the show at the end of last season. Instead, the producers have signed Emma Samms, who plays Holly Sutton Scorpio on ABC’s daytime serial “General Hospital.”

Production already has begun on next season’s episodes of “The Love Boat.” Gavin MacLeod and the rest of the crew will be filming several shows on location in Egypt, Spain, Portugal, France and Italy. New for the ABC series’ ninth season will be the “Love Boat Mermaids,” a group of eight dancers who will perform on each show.

Speaking of shows that will be coming back next season, NBC has given renewal notices to “The A-Team,” “Riptide,” “Remington Steele,” “St. Elsewhere,” “Highway to Heaven,” “The Cosby Show,” “Miami Vice,” “Family Ties,” “Knight Rider,” “The Facts of Life,” “Gimme a Break,” “Night Court,” “Cheers” and “Hill Street Blues.”

Bill Kurtis will anchor “The Gift of Life,” a CBS documentary about organ transplants. It’s due to air March 27, presenting a look at the intense drama surrounding the decisions of those with organs to donate and the often agonizing wait of those needing them.

Peter Ustinov again will play detective Hercule Poirot, this time for TV in an adaptation of Agatha Christie’s “13 at Dinner.” The mystery movie, which will air on CBS, also will star Faye Dunaway in a dual role. She’ll play an actress and a woman who admires the star.

Jacqueline Bisset and Christopher Reeve will be seen as the tragic lovers in “Anna Karenina,” a new version of the Tolstoy novel that CBS plans to broadcast March 26. Paul Scofield also stars as Bisset’s husband, whose outrage at her affair threatens everything she values.
