The City of Pasadena agreed to pay $250,000 to heirs of a man who was beaten to death in that city’s jail. After the first day of a federal court jury trial, lawyers for the city said they had reached the settlement of claims in the death of David Huebner, 41, who died of head injuries inflicted after he was jailed on suspicion of intoxication in 1983. It was the city’s sixth out-of-court settlement in such cases during recent months. Attorney Carol Watson, who represented Huebner’s heir, Lauren Cardenas, said the district attorney’s office has refused her request for an investigation of the death.
