Drive-by Shooting in Placentia Kills 1 Man, Injures 3
An 18-year-old man was killed and three others wounded early Saturday in a gang-related drive-by shooting near McFadden Park in Placentia, police said. No one has been arrested.
Albert Garnica of Placentia was pronounced dead on arrival at Anaheim Memorial Hospital, officers said. He had been shot in the side.
The shooting was reported to police at 2:41 a.m. The caller told officers that four people had been shot at 907 Melrose St., near the neighborhood park, police said.
Paramedics treated the victims, all residents of Placentia, at the scene.
Police said Andrew Monteverde, 21, was reported in stable condition at UCI Medical Center in Orange with a bullet wound in his back. Paul Morales, 18, was treated and released from the medical center and Joe Castillo, 22, was treated and released from Anaheim Memorial Hospital for minor gunshot wounds, police said.
