Norway Heritage Festival

Lillehammer, Norway, will host a “Norwegian Roots” festival between June 28 and July 7, designed to acquaint Norwegian-Americans with their heritage. Festivities will include folkloric music, dancing, handicrafts, exhibits and visits to local homes. ‘London Season’

A “London Season” tour, with attendance at the opening days of both the Royal Ascot and Wimbledon, is offered by Country Homes & Castles, 615 S. They’ll ride the luxurious Orient Express from Victoria Station to Canterbury while being served lunch and tea, stay in some of England’s finest country houses, dine with the Earl and Countess Spencer and meet other peers of the realm. The land cost is 2,670 (about $2,884). Other offerings are “England and the Chelsea Flower Show” and “Scotland and the Edinburgh Festival.”

‘The Silk Tour’

“The Silk Tour,” the Friends of French Art Foundation’s art conservation house party, will meet at the Hotel Crillon in Paris on May 22. Members of the group each make a $5,000 donation, pay their own hotels and make their own flight arrangements. Paris, Lyon, the chateaux of the Departments of the Isere, the Loire and the Rhone are on the itinerary. In Paris they will be entertained by Barons Alexis de Rede, Guy de Rothschild and Philippe de Rothschild, along with several collectors and designers. There will be visits to museums, luncheons, receptions and tours. Restorations funded by the foundation have included Marie Antoinette’s harp, the Mill at Pontoise where Cezanne and Pissarro painted, and countless paintings in museums around France. Around Canada

Club Universe has several escorted tours to Canada. Nine-day trips to Ontario and Quebec, including air fare from Los Angeles, are priced from $1,079 to $1,205. Music Fest at Sea

A musical festival at sea is planned for the Alaska cruise, June 2 to 13, aboard Cunard/NAC’s Sagafjord. Passengers on the cruise from Vancouver to Anchorage, “Route of the Glaciers,” will be joined by Martin Bernheimer, Los Angeles Times music critic and Pulitzer Prize winner; pianists Michel Block and Jerome Lowenthal; cellist Yehuda Hanani; violinist Ruggiero Ricci; soprano Elinor Ross, and members of the Sitka Festival Ensemble. Included in the program will be seminars, lectures and concert programs, and a special concert in Sitka. Prices range from $9,120 for a luxury suite to $2,210 for an inside cabin, per person double occupancy, plus an add-on of $150 (from Los Angeles) for air fare. Travel agents have details.

Overland in Tibet

Mountain Travel, 1398 Solano Ave., Albany, Calif. 94706, offers an expedition, limited to 14 participants, to legendary Mt. Kailas, the holy mountain of Western Tibet. The trip, Sept. 22 to Oct. 29, costs $9,300 plus air fare to Peking. After visiting Peking and Chengdu, the group will fly to Lhasa, Tibet, then go by bus to the towns of Shigatse and Shigar, over a 17,400-foot mountain pass. From there the group will travel by mini-bus to the base of the mountain, camp for several days, then hike for three days around the mountain, following the pilgrimage route taken by Buddhists and Hindus. Also on the agenda are visits to shrines and monasteries. Accommodations along the trail will be in guest houses.
