City Commission Seeks Complaints From People Injured by Pornography

Share

The Los Angeles City Commission on the Status of Women seeks people who feel they have been injured--physically, emotionally, socially or financially--by pornography, according to commission president Diane Goodman.

Written complaints may be submitted to the commission, 200 N. Main St., Room 550, City Hall East, Los Angeles 90012.

“There is a growing concern about the possible effect that violent pornography has on society, in particular, in regards to the safety and image of women,” Goodman said. “Women are to a great extent the subjects of violent pornography.”

The commission has undertaken the project at the request of Councilman Ernani Bernardi, chair of the Public Health, Human Resources and Senior Citizens Committee, which is considering a possible ordinance allowing citizens to sue producers of pornography if they are coerced into performing for the production of pornography or if they are harmed by someone else who viewed the pornography.
