The Santa Ana Unified School Board has decided to postpone a decision on a site for a new high school until its next meeting on April 9 to allow more study on the issue, Assistant Supt. Anthony J. Delessi said. The board is considering five possible sites, all located in east Santa Ana near McFadden and Edinger avenues, but opted to delay the decision to allow Santa Fe Railroad officials to help in the search. Two of the proposed sites are on land owned by the railroad. Another site under consideration is 34.5 acres on the west side of Grand Avenue and just south of McFadden Avenue that is owned by the county. “We will work with the county on that (possible site) during the next two weeks,” Delessi said. Construction of the new school to accommodate rapid growth and skyrocketing enrollment in the Santa Ana school district will be financed by the state.
