Anderson Scores Three Touchdowns in Bandits’ 28-20 Win
Running back Gary Anderson ran for two touchdowns and caught a pass for a third Friday night to give the Tampa Bay Bandits a 28-20 United States Football League victory over the Memphis Showboats before a crowd of 23,952.
Anderson, 6-0 and 180 pounds, accounted for 68 of his team’s 82 yards on the ground.
Quarterback John Reaves was 24 of 35 for 300 yards passing.
The Bandits (4-2) matched the Showboats (3-3) touchdown for touchdown until the final period when they broke away with a fourth-quarter drive that put them ahead, 28-20.
Anderson, from Arkansas, capped the 13-play, 90-yard drive with a four-yard run.
