Computer Automation said it will move to Irvine.

Citing the need to save money, the computer maker reported that it will transfer its corporate headquarters to Orange County, where it fled from in 1982 to Boulder, Colo. Not returning to Orange County, however, is the founder of the 17-year-old firm, David Methvin, who stepped down last week as president and chief executive. Methvin, who once labeled California as “anti-business,” said he was not the best person to handle the company’s need to change direction.
