Employers Insurance of Wausau, which carries the San Francisco-based bank’s liability policies for misdeeds by officers and directors, told Bank of America that it will cancel the insurance April 15. The bank acknowledged that it had received Wausau’s notice but said it was involved in “discussions” with the firm to resolve their differences. B of A named Wausau as a defendant in a lawsuit arising from the bank’s loss of $95 million in an allegedly fraudulent mortgage scheme, saying the insurer was liable for $80 million in losses caused by employee negligence.
