Cal Poly Pomona President Hugh La Bounty has been appointed to the Pacific Rim Task Force of the California Economic Development Corp. as an adviser and representative of the California State University system. The task force will prepare an analytical study of the California economy.

Katherine Gabel has been named president of Pacific Oaks College in Pasadena. Gabel, who previously served as dean of the school of social work at Smith College in Massachusetts will succeed Elizabeth Herrick, who is retiring.

Ray Bartlett of Altadena has been named the man of the year at the Pasadena YMCA. Bartlett has been a volunteer with the Pasadena YMCA for 46 years. A former member of the Pasadena Police Department, where he served for 20 years, Bartlett once played professional football with the Honolulu Bears. He is a the former president of the Pasadena Metropolitan YMCA Board.

Donald Bollinger of Glendora has been elected chairman of the board of directors of the Foothill Presbyterian Hospital in Glendora. Bollinger is an attorney with Nichols, Stead, Boileau & Lamb in Pomona. Bollinger succeeds Norman Nichols. Dr. Orville Mestad will serve as vice chairman.
