Cable Fee Suit Filed:The city filed a lawsuit late Wednesday in an attempt to keep its cable television franchise company from increasing its base charge to residential and commercial customers. The lawsuit, filed in Orange County Superior Court, claims that Group W Cable is attempting to increase its monthly service charge to users from $6.45 to $9.95 without approval from the City Council, violating its contract with the city. The lawsuit states that Group W plans to initiate the increase on Monday. Group W officials could not be reached late Wednesday for comment.
