Although they will appear on next Tuesday’s ballot without party designation, the leading fund-raisers in campaigns for San Fernando Valley seats on the Los Angeles school board have received substantial support from prominent Republicans, according to campaign financial disclosure reports filed this week.

In the crowded race for the West Valley school board seat being vacated by Tom Bartman, David Armor raised the most--$32,149--through March 23.

Armor, the losing GOP candidate in a 1982 Valley congressional race, received $1,000 from a number of prominent Republicans, including West Valley Councilman Hal Bernson, former County GOP Chairman Richard Gulbranson and Republican fund-raisers Margaret Brock and Julian Virtue. He also received $500 from Valley auto dealer Bert Boeckmann.

In the East Valley school board race, incumbent Roberta Weintraub raised $51,317, while her only opponent, Mary Louise Longoria, raised $13,268.

Weintraub received $300 from Henry Salvatori, a prominent Republican fund-raiser. She also received $250 each from Bernson, Boeckmann and Virtue.

Longoria’s contributors included the Mexican American Political Assn., $500; Women For:, a women’s activist organization, $250, and the Coalition of Black Educators, $100.
